Descrizione generale

IRR (insulin receptor-related receptor) belongs to the insulin receptor (IR) family. It is expressed in neuronal tissues, kidney, pancreas and stomach.[1][2]

Azioni biochim/fisiol

IRR or insulin receptor-related receptor is a tyrosine protein kinase. IRR is an extracellular pH sensor. The IRR mRNA is present in neuroblastomas and may be associated with tumor genesis.[1][2]

Stato fisico

Supplied in 50 mM Tris-HCl, pH 7.5, with 150 mM NaCl, 0.25 mM DTT, 0.1 mM EGTA, 0.1 mM EDTA, 0.1 mM PMSF, and 25% glycerol.

In 1989, Shier and Watt identified a gene which was predicted to encode a new member of the insulin receptor (IR) family, and they called it the insulin receptor-related receptor (IRR) (Shier, P., and Watt, V. M. (1989) J. Biol.

IRR is a member of the insulin receptor (IR) family that does not have any known agonist of a peptide nature but can be activated by mildly alkaline medium and was thus proposed to function as an extracellular pH sensor.

The insulin receptor-related receptor (IRR) is a member of the insulin receptor family. So far no ligand has yet been discovered for this receptor type (orphan receptor). IRR, insulin receptor (IR), and insulin-like growth factor-I receptor (IGF-I-R) are all tyrosine
