Descrizione generale

Integrin subunit β 3 (ITGB3) is part of the integrin family whose members bind to proteins containing the arginine-glycine-aspartic acid (RGD)-motif. The ITGB3 protein is expressed in hematopoietic cells, endothelial cells, platelets and osteoclasts. The gene encoding this protein is localized on human chromosome 17q21.32 and consists of 15 exons.

Azioni biochim/fisiol

Integrin β subunit 3 (ITGB3) has a role in platelet aggregation and cell migration and survival. It has also been associated with tumor growth. The protein interacts with vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR).
