Biochem/physiol Actions

β-glucanases degrade β-1,4-glucans of cellulose, xyloglucan and β-1,4-xylan.[1][2]

Unit Definition

One unit corresponds to the amount of enzyme which will release 1 μmole of reducing sugar equivalents (expressed as glucose) per minute at pH 5.0 and 55 °C, using β-D-glucan (Cat. No. 49102) as substrate

Insects and fungi share a long history of association in various habitats, including the wood-decomposition niche. Fungal mimicry of termite eggs is one of the most striking evolutionary consequences of insect-fungus association. Termites of the genus Reticulitermes often harbor fungal

The molecular structure, chemical properties, and biological function of the xyloglucan polysaccharide isolated from cell walls of suspension-cultured sycamore (Acer pseudoplatanus) cells are described. The sycamore wall xyloglucan is compared to the extracellular xyloglucan secreted by suspension-cultured sycamore cells into

Questions

  1. I would like to know if this product digest beta 1-4 glucan or beta 1-3 glucan or both.

    1 answer
    1. As mentioned in the 'DESCRIPTION' section of the product page, under 'Biochem/physiol Actions', this product specifically degrades ?-1,4-glucans. Should a glucanase that degrades beta 1-3 glucan be required, please see product 67138 at the link below:
