细胞骨髓细胞瘤病（c-myc）基因位于人类染色体8q24上，它最初是从禽类骨髓细胞瘤病毒中分离的v-myc基因的细胞同源物。c-myc是MYC基因家族的成员。 c-Myc基因可编码碱性螺旋- 环-螺旋/亮氨酸拉链（bHLH/LZ）转录因子，该转录因子可调节G1-S细胞周期转变。在人癌症组织中观察到c-myc的表达增加。

生化/生理作用

细胞骨髓细胞瘤病（c-myc）癌基因在细胞增殖、分化、凋亡中起重要作用，并可作为基因表达的转录调节因子。 c-Myc 表达对于协助大多数细胞进入细胞周期的合成（S）期是必要且充分的。编码的蛋白质在癌症发展和进展过程中的血管生成起着至关重要的作用。c-Myc 与其结合伴侣 Max 相互作用，并激活促生长基因的转录，如细胞周期蛋白 D2、鸟氨酸脱羧酶和转录因子 E2F1，它也通过与 Max 和 Sp1 或 Miz1复合物中的转录起始元件（Inr）结合抑制多种转录因子的转录，尤其是 p21 和 p27。
