地衣酚(Orcinol)是一种小分子天然酚类物质，可制备地衣红(Orcein)染料，用于细胞和染色体染色。地衣酚一水合物常用于制备比色试剂Bial试剂，用于测定RNA、DNA和己糖。
应用
苔黑酚一水合物已用于制备 Bials 试剂（Bial′s reagen），以便Bials苔黑酚法(Bial′s orcinol assay)测定戊糖。它还可用于制备苔黑酚溶液，适于TLC板染色和苔黑酚法染料测定法鼠李糖脂测定。苔黑酚一水合物已用于 RNA 分析。
