General description
Leupeptin is a tripeptide protease inhibitor that is naturally produced in Actinomyces / Streptomyces. Known also as N-acetyl-L-leucyl-L-leucyl-L-arginal, leupeptin is a reversible competitive inhibitor of cysteine, serine, and thiol proteases.
Features and Benefits
- Inhibitor of serine and cysteine proteases
- Inhibits plasmin, trypsin, papain, calpain, and cathepsin B
- Does not inhibit pepsin, cathepsin A, cathepsin D, thrombin, or α-chymotrypsin
- Effective concentration: 10 μM - 100 μM
