Tween 20 ist ein Polyoxyethylensorbitol-Ester, der zur Familie der Polysorbate gehört. Es ist ein nicht-ionisches Reinigungsmittel mit einem Molekulargewicht von 1.225 Dalton und nimmt 20 Ethylenoxid-Einheiten, 1 Sorbitol und 1 Laurinsäure als primäre Fettsäure an. Die Ethylenoxid-Untereinheiten sind verantwortlich für die hydrophilen Eigenschaften des Tensids, während die Kohlenwasserstoffketten die hydrophobe Umgebung bieten. Sorbitol bildet den Gerüstring, an dem die Ethylenoxid-Polymere binden.[1]
Anwendung
Anionisches Reinigungsmittel
TWEEN 20 ist ein nicht-ionisches Reinigungsmittel und wird in biochemischen Anwendungen breit genutzt. Es wird als Emulgator für die Herstellung von stabilen Öl-in-Wasser-Emulsionen verwendet. TWEEN 20 wird bei der Vorextraktion von Membranen zur Entfernung von peripheren Proteinen eingesetzt (mit einer Konzentration von 2 % für die Extraktion von membrangebundenen Proteinen).
TWEEN 20 dient als Blockierungsmittel für membranbasierte Immunassays bei einer typischen Konzentration von 0,05 %. TWEEN 20 kann bei einer Konzentration von 0,005 bis 0,5 % für die Lyse von Säugetierzellen verwendet werden.

Vorsicht
TWEEN 20 ist unter Umständen nicht stabil bei Autoklavierung, insbesondere mit Metallionen in Pufferlösungen. Eine Autoklavierung ohne Testen der Veränderung von Eigenschaften wird nicht empfohlen. TWEEN 20 ist hitzeempfindlich und dunkelt bei Exposition gegenüber höheren Temperaturen ein. Berichten zufolge sind Polysorbate inkompatibel mit Laugen, Schwermetallsalzen, Phenolen und Gerbsäure. Unter Umständen verringern sie auch die Aktivität zahlreicher Konservierungsmittel. Lösungen von Polysorbaten in Wasser unterliegen bei der Lagerung der Autoxidation, wobei die Veränderungen durch Licht, erhöhte Temperaturen und Kupfersulfat katalysiert werden.
Angaben zur Herstellung
TWEEN 20 ist mischbar in Wasser (100 mg/ml) und ergibt eine klare gelbe Lösung. Außerdem ist es mischbar mit Alkohol, Dioxan und Ethylacetat. TWEEN 20 ist unlöslich in flüssigem Paraffin und in fetten Ölen.

If this product has an expiration or retest date, it will be shown on the Certificate of Analysis (COA, CofA). If there is no retest or expiration date listed on the product's COA, we do not have suitable stability data to determine a shelf life. For these products, the only date on the COA will be the release date; a retest, expiration, or use-by-date will not be displayed.
