CD56, auch als neurales Zelladhäsionsmolekül (NCAM) bekannt, ist ein Calcium-unabhängigeshomophiles Bindungsprotein, das zu einer Gruppe von Zelladhäsionsmolekülen gehört, zu der auchCadherine, Selektine und Integrine zählen. CD56 ist an der Zell-Zell-Anhaftung von Nervenzellen währendder Embryogenese beteiligt und wird in den meisten Geweben neuroektodermalen Ursprungs exprimiert. Im Gegensatz dazugesundem Gewebe markiert Anti-CD56 Neuronen, Glia, Schwannzellen, NK-Zellen (natürliche Killerzellen) und eineTeilmenge von T-Zellen. Die CD56-Expression wird bei den meisten NK-Zellneoplasien festgestellt,4 und wird häufig verwendet,um Neoplasien mit neuroendokriner Differenzierung zu identifizieren.

It is generally recommended to begin with fresh cut tissue for use in IHC. When storing pre-cut tissue slides, it is typically done under refrigerated conditions (2 to 8°C), which can last for 2 to 3 years. However, the potential effects of storing at temperatures of -20°C with desiccant are not well-known in terms of tissue preservation. The best practice is to always use fresh cut tissue sections when possible.
