Biochem./physiol. Wirkung

Anti-neoplastisch. Inaktiviert die Ribonukleosid-Reduktase durch Bildung eines freien Nitroxid-Radikals, das ein freies Tyrosyl-Radikal im aktiven Zentrum des Enzyms bindet. Dadurch wird die Synthese von Desoxynukleotiden blockiert, was die DNA-Synthese hemmt und die Synchronisation oder den Zelltod in der S-Phase induziert.
