    1. This catalogue number is referring to the single RO cartridge inside the mentioned water system.
      The RO cartridge is not replaced on a periodic predictable basis, that is, it is not a consumable by definition. If the correct pretreatment to the water is used, and maintained, then the RO cartridge can last for a very long time (several years or longer). If there is a drop in the RO cartridge's percent ionic rejection and/or permeate flow rate, then the RO cartridge can be cleaned using either an acidic cleaner or a basic cleaner (basic = high pH at pH 10). If the cleaning is done at the right time, more time than not it recovers the RO cartridge's ability to reject ions at a satisfactory permeate flow rate. It is significantly less money to clean the RO cartridge than to replace it.
      An Elix 5 Essential system uses a Progard pretreatment pack which is a consumable replaced on a periodic predictable basis (after 3000 Litres throughput and/or 6 calendar months of installment). No accurate statement pertaining to Litres of water processed and/or calendar time since installment can be made for an RO cartridge.
