General description

Metolachlor ESA sodium salt is used for the control of broadleaf weeds and annual grasses in primarily corn, soybean, and sorghum. Active compounds of metolachlor pesticide may be converted by the target insects or plants or may be degraded in the environment to form the corresponding ethanesulfonic (ESA) acids, oxanillic (OA) acids, and other degradates. Metolachlor ESA sodium salt is one of the metabolites of metolachlor.[1]

Application

Metolachlor ESA sodium salt may be used as an analytical reference standard for the determination of the analyte in water by solid phase extraction and liquid chromatography/electrospray ionization tandem mass spectroscopy (LC/ESI MS/MS).[1]
Refer to the product′s Certificate of Analysis for more information on a suitable instrument technique. Contact Technical Service for further support.

Questions

  1. Is it possible to know exactly what are the fractions of R-MESA and S-MESA enantiomers in this reagent? Are there any MESA standards with known fractions of R-MESA and S-MESA enantiomers?

    1 answer
    1. No tests for enantiomeric content are performed on this product and details on R/S fraction are unknown. Products 33859 and CRM33859 provide details on the certificate of analysis for S-Metolachlor content. A standard for R-Metolachlor is not available.
