Gene Information

General description

Ubiquitin, an 8.5kD (approx.) 76 amino acid containing protein, is highly conserved and found in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It facilitates protein degradation in ubiquitin/proteasome pathway and also has pivotal role in intracellular regulation. Monoclonal anti-ubiquitin antibody can be used in immunoblotting and ELISA to localize and detect ubiquitin. Mouse anti-ubiquitin antibody reacts specifically with ubiquitin in mouse, human, bovine and rat.

Immunogen

purified bovine ubiquitin conjugated to KLH.

Application

Applications in which this antibody has been used successfully, and the associated peer-reviewed papers, are given below.
Western Blotting (1 paper)
Monoclonal anti-ubiquitin antibody can be used in western blot to visualize and evaluate ubiquitylated proteins. It can also be used in microarray and immunoblotting.
