General description

Struttura chimica: peptide

Application

Spettro antimicrobico: Batteri gram negativi

Analysis Note

Liberamente solubile in acqua, praticamente insolubile in acetone e in etanolo (96%)

Other Notes

Tenere il contenitore ben chiuso in luogo asciutto e ben ventilato.

Questions

1–8 of 8 Questions
  1. How can I determine the shelf life / expiration / retest date of this product?

    1 answer
    1. If this product has an expiration or retest date, it will be shown on the Certificate of Analysis (COA, CofA). If there is no retest or expiration date listed on the product's COA, we do not have suitable stability data to determine a shelf life. For these products, the only date on the COA will be the release date; a retest, expiration, or use-by-date will not be displayed.
For all products, we recommend handling per defined conditions as printed in our product literature and website product descriptions. We recommend that products should be routinely inspected by customers to ensure they perform as expected.
For products without retest or expiration dates, our standard warranty of 1 year from the date of shipment is applicable.
For more information, please refer to the Product Dating Information document: https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/deepweb/assets/sigmaaldrich/marketing/global/documents/418/501/product-dating-information-06-25-mk.pdf

  2. 1. What is the solubility of this antibiotic in water? How many mg of the substance can dissolve in 1 mL of water? 2. After preparing a diluted solution of the antibiotic in water, where should it be stored, and what is the recommended storage duration?

    1 answer
    1. This material is quite soluble in water. The rate of solubility in water has not been established. However, other sources report rates up to 560 mg/mL. Solutions prepared in water are stable when refrigerated at 2-8 °C for at least 60 days. Avoid storing solutions prepared in isotonic buffers, as the literature indicates a possible increase in the rate of decomposition.

  3. How is shipping temperature determined? And how is it related to the product storage temperature?

    1 answer
    1. Products may be shipped at a different temperature than the recommended long-term storage temperature. If the product quality is sensitive to short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped on wet or dry-ice. If the product quality is NOT affected by short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped at ambient temperature. As shipping routes are configured for minimum transit times, shipping at ambient temperature helps control shipping costs for our customers. For more information, please refer to the Storage and Transport Conditions document: https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/deepweb/assets/sigmaaldrich/marketing/global/documents/316/622/storage-transport-conditions-mk.pdf

  4. what is potency in microgram/mg?

    1 answer
    1. As per the International Standard Preparation (1968), for comparative purposes, each microgram (ug) of colistin base is equivalent to 30 units. As an example, a lot reporting an activity of 22,891 units/mg would have the equivalent of 763 ug of colistin base per mg solid. This product has a minimum activity specification of 19,000 IU/mg, which equates to 633 ug colistin base per mg solid. The activity is reported on a lot specific basis on the product Certificate of Analysis. Please see the link below to review a sample or lot specific Certificate.

  5. What is the recommended storage temperature for the powder after opening the bottle and weighing 10 mg?

    1 answer
    1. The product should be stored at 2-8°C both before and after it is opened.

      Helpful?

  6. May you please indicate if this product is from a biological source or if it is synthesized? Many thanks

    1 answer
    1. Currently, this product is produced from an animal component free microbial fermentation process. A lot specific Certificate of Origin can be supplied by our Technical Service team who can assist you with further. We kindly ask you to navigate to the link https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/techservice, click on "Product Documentation" under the Products Section with all the required information so that a member of our team can reach out to you to assist further.
