(2-Hydroxypropyl)-β-cyclodextrin (HP-β-CD) is a beta-cyclodextrin and hydroxyalkyl derivative and is widely used as a chiral solvent, phase transfer catalyst, and host molecule in organic synthesis. HP-β-CD can form inclusion complexes with guest molecules, which can help enhance the solubility, stability, and bioavailability of the guest molecule. It is an alternative to α-, β- and γ-cyclodextrin and exhibits a higher water solubility. HP-β-CD is commonly used as a drug solubilizer. [1]
Applicazioni
La solubilità dei farmaci lipofili aumenta linearmente con la concentrazione di idrossipropil-β-ciclodestrina (HBC) in soluzione acquosa a causa del complesso che si forma fra HBC e il farmaco. Questo complesso di tipo ospite/ospitante si forma tra il farmaco e la cavità non polare della HBC aumentando la solubilità. È possibile liofilizzare le soluzioni per produrre polveri facilmente solubili. Non tossico nel coniglio e nel topo.
HP-β-CD can be used:
- As an additive in the separation of amino acids and lactic acids based on the coordination interactions between Cu2+ ions and analytes. [2]
- As a chiral selector in capillary electrophoresis, enabling the robust separation of diastereomeric derivatives of aspartic acid for analysis. [3]
- As a reagent to improve water solubility and anti-proliferative activity of pyrazolo[3,4-d] pyrimidines. [4]
- As formulation vehicle. It increases water solubility of the drug for successful delivery of medical agents to a biological system.[1]
- To increase the solubility of ropivacaine (RVC) upon complexation, which in turn enhances the pharmacological activity of RVC.[5]
- To increase the aqueous solubility of naproxen (NAP) in presence of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP).[6]
- As a template in the synthesis of hollow spherical copper sulfide nanoparticle assemblies.[7]

How can I determine the shelf life / expiration / retest date of this product?

If this product has an expiration or retest date, it will be shown on the Certificate of Analysis (COA, CofA). If there is no retest or expiration date listed on the product's COA, we do not have suitable stability data to determine a shelf life. For these products, the only date on the COA will be the release date; a retest, expiration, or use-by-date will not be displayed.
For all products, we recommend handling per defined conditions as printed in our product literature and website product descriptions. We recommend that products should be routinely inspected by customers to ensure they perform as expected.
For products without retest or expiration dates, our standard warranty of 1 year from the date of shipment is applicable.

Products may be shipped at a different temperature than the recommended long-term storage temperature. If the product quality is sensitive to short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped on wet or dry-ice. If the product quality is NOT affected by short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped at ambient temperature. As shipping routes are configured for minimum transit times, shipping at ambient temperature helps control shipping costs for our customers.
