A potent, cell-permeable inhibitor of farnesyltransferase (FTase) that is about 37-fold more active against FTase (IC₅₀ = 21 nM in vitro) than against geranylgeranyltransferase (GGTase; IC₅₀ = 790 nM). Very resistant to proteolysis.
