Description générale

The oxygen-removing catalysts can reduce oxygen to less than 2 ppb when the level in the incoming gas does not exceed 10 ppm. Because the catalyst is coated on a Molecular Sieve, this trap also can remove water vapor.

Dimensions:
  • 120 cc Trap: 111/8in. (28.2 cm) long x 13/8 in. (35 mm) diameter
  • 750 cc Trap: 161/2 in. (41.9 cm) long x 25/16in. (59 mm) diameter
  • S-Trap: 71/2 in. (19 cm) long x 59/16 in. (14.1 cm) wide x 1/2 in. (13 mm) diameter [total bed length = 193/4 in. (50.2 cm); the extended bed length ensures prolonged contact between the gas and the adsorbent and provides greater working capacity]

Application

Supelpure-O Oxygen/Moisture Trap along with Molecular Sieve 5A Moisture Trap was used as the two cascade columns required for the purification of ethylene, in an experimental study based on using micrometer-sized aggregates of polystyrene nanoparticles as fragmentable support for Ziegler-Natta catalysts.[1]

Questions

1–3 of 3 Questions
  1. Is it possible to regenerate a spent trap through heat treatment of other method?

    1 answer
    1. No regeneration method is available for this product.

      Helpful?

  2. What is the pressure rating of the Supelpure _ O oxuygen/moisture trap, and what is the H2O/O2 capacities? Can it be used with H2?

    1 answer
    1. The maximum pressure recommended for this product is 250 psi (17.2 bar). The removal capacities are 10.2 grams of water and 2.4 grams of oxygen. This trap is suitable for use with hydrogen.

  3. Does the "CC" designation relate to the volume of gas that the purifier can scrub at a time, or does it indicate the longevity of the purifier? Additionally, does it affect the flow rate? What pressure should a nitrogen regulator be set to in order to use this product?

    1 answer
    1. The "cc" designation refers to the volume of adsorbent material in each of the two products, Supelpure-O 120CC and Supelpure-O 750cc. The lifetime of the Supelpure-O, and/or any gas purification trap, relies on the contaminants and their concentration level in the incoming gas, as well as the flow rate. Bulletin 918 on gas purification includes a table of the maximum flow rate and pressure of various gas purification products, some of which are no longer available.
The pressure setting on the incoming carrier gas tank depends on the type of analysis being performed, whether packed or capillary, isothermal or temperature programmed method, etc. For GC applications, a pressure at least 20psi higher than that achieved during the analysis is recommended, preferably 40-50psi higher. In GCs that do not maintain constant pressure, as the temperature increases, resistance and back pressure rise, causing the flow rate to drop.
