General description

NMP, also known as N-Methyl-2-pyrrolidone, is a versatile, water-miscible solvent widely recognized for its ability to improve the solubility and permeability of a broad range of pharmaceutical compounds. Its high thermal stability with a boiling point of 202 °C is well-suited for formulations that require heat sterilization. These properties make it a reliable and effective solubilizing agent for pharmaceutical development.

Application

NMP may be used as a solvent
  • in a modified Fmoc-deprotection during solid-phase peptide synthesis for the reduction of diketopiperazine formation.
  • in gel permeation chromatography (GPC) or size-exclusion chromatography (SEC) for analyzing high-molecular-weight polymers
