Description générale

An internal standard suitable for therapeutic drug monitoring analyses of methotrexate patient serum samples by LC-MS/MS. Used in the treatment of cancer and autoimmune diseases, methotrexate is an antimetabolite and antifolate drug monitored by clinical labs to ensure patients remain within the drug′s therapeutic range. The Snap-N-Spike® solution format allows laboratories to eliminate weighing operations of hazardous substances such as methotrexate, significantly reducing occupational exposure hazards related to handling of acutely toxic powders, and provides the ability to spike into their matrix of choice just before use.

Application


  • Application in leukemia research: Methotrexate-D₃ is utilized as an internal standard in LC-MS/MS analysis to monitor the bioavailability and metabolic pathways of thioguanosine and methylthioinosine in children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, supporting its use in pediatric oncology and pharmacokinetics studies (Han et al., 2022).

  • Enhancement of drug monitoring techniques: Employed in high-throughput MALDI-isotope dilution mass spectrometry, Methotrexate-D₃ allows for the ultrafast and selective quantification of methotrexate in human plasma, proving essential for optimizing therapeutic regimens in cancer treatment (Meesters et al., 2011).
