RACK1 (receptor of activated protein kinase C1) is an intracellular adapter protein, which belongs to a class of intracellular receptor proteins that bind activated members of the protein kinase C family. RACK1 serves as a scaffold protein for a wide range of kinases and membrane-bound receptors. RACK1 is a member of the tryptophane-aspartate (WD) family known for its propeller-like structure. Literature strongly indicates that RACK1 plays an important role in intracellular signaling at several functional levels. RACK1, a substrate for several kinases, is involved in the regulation of Src function and cell growth.
