Aplicação

Cholecystokinin (CCK) is a peptide hormone of the gastrointestinal system responsible for stimulating the digestion of fat and protein. It is used to study brain, kidney and pancreatic functioning as well as reproductive behavior and glucose tolerance.

Ações bioquímicas/fisiológicas

CCK mediates digestion and satiety. It has anti-inflammatory properties. CCK stimulates insulin secretion through phospholipase activity in b-cells.

Inhibitory parvalbumin-containing interneurons (PVIs) control neuronal discharge and support the generation of theta- and gamma-frequency oscillations in cortical networks. Fast GABAergic input onto PVIs is crucial for their synchronization and oscillatory entrainment, but the role of metabotropic GABA(B) receptors (GABA(B)Rs)

To study the contributions of insulin-dependent vs. insulin-independent mechanisms to intravenous glucose tolerance (K(G)), 475 experiments in mice were performed. An intravenous glucose bolus was given either alone or with exogenous insulin or with substances modulating insulin secretion and sensitivity.
