Descrição geral

The gene FCAR Fc fragment of IgA receptor) encodes a glycoprotein belonging to the immunoglobulin gene superfamily. The gene is mapped to human chromosome 19q13.4. It is selectively expressed on human phagocytic cells, which include monocytes, macrophages, eosinophils, and neutrophils.

The gene FCAR Fc fragment of IgA receptor) encodes a transmembrane protein that binds to the Fc region of IgA and mediates immunological responses to pathogens. It forms a complex with IgA and triggers phagocytosis, secretion of inflammatory mediators, antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity, and production of superoxide. Altered gene expression is associated with increased allergies and IgA nephropathy.
