The Human Protein Atlas project can be subdivided into three efforts: Human Tissue Atlas, Cancer Atlas, and Human Cell Atlas. Ações bioquímicas/fisiológicas

Galectin-2 is a protein encoded by the LGALS2 gene in humans. It is also known as HL14 and is structurally closely related to galectin-1, but has a distinct expression profile primarily confined to the gastrointestinal tract. It acts as a novel inhibitor of arteriogenesis. Modulation of this gene may constitute a new therapeutic strategy for the stimulation of arteriogenesis in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD).
