    1 answer
    1. First, check the instrument or pump manual to make sure the system can be used with a solution of 6-10% nitric acid.  Once all packing has been carefully removed from the column and disposed of properly, flush the column with hot HPLC grade or distilled water to remove residual packing or salts that may have precipitated during use.  Then passivate the column with a solution of 6-10% nitric acid at a flow rate of approximately 4-5 mL per minute.  Flush thoroughly with HPLC grade or distilled water, then methanol.
