N-Nitrosodimethylamin ist eine toxische Art von N-Nitrosamin, die generell durch die in der Darmflora vorhandenen Mikroorganismen synthetisiert werden kann. Unter Verwendung von nullvalenten Metallionen, wie Fe und Zn in Gegenwart von Cu(II)-Ionen, kann es einer Reduktion unterzogen werden, um Dimethylamin zu bilden.
