The B-Dex 225 is nonbonded, therefore it does not support aqueous injections. Injecting water can wash the phase out of the column. It's essential for both the samples and the carrier gas to be moisture free. This applies to all non-bonded phase columns, not just chiral columns.

General description
Die Supelco β-DEX 225 ist eine modifizierte Form der β-DEX 325 Phase und nutzt Acetylderivate statt traditionellerer Methylderivate an den 2,3-Positionen. Die chirale stationäre Phase in β-DEX 225 Säulen enthält 2,3-Di-O-acetyl-6-0-TBDMS-β-cyclodextrin, das in einer Phase mit dazwischenliegender Polarität eingebettet ist. Diese Säulen bieten eine einzigartige Selektivität für enantiomere Abscheidungen kleiner Moleküle: Alkohole, Aldehyde (z. B. 2-Phenylpropionaldehyd), Ester (z. B. Methylmalat, Methyllactat), Aromaverbindungen und Ketone.
Die GC-Kapillarsäule wird auch offene Rohrsäule genannt. Das Trägergas strömt durch die zentrale Öffnung und ist durch die Länge der Säule nicht eingeschränkt.
