Biochem/physiol Actions

Monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1) or chemokine (C-C motif) ligand 2 (CCL2) is expressed in the suprachiasmatic nuclei (SCN) in the hypothalamus of mice. It has a role in the survival and proliferation of microglia. MCP-1 has been shown to activate GTPases like cell division control protein 42 (CDC42) and Ras-related C3 botulinum toxin substrate 1 (Rac1).[1][2][3]
