(R)-(-)-Phenylephrine hydrochloride is an adrenergic agent, which functions as a β-receptor sympathomimetic drug.

Application

(R)-(-)-Phenylephrine hydrochloride has been used:
  • in the preparation and culturing of cardiocytes and fibroblasts
  • to stimulate myocardial strips to measure slice contraction
  • in primary cardiomyocyte culture to show the effect of Kruppel-like factors (KLF) on cardiac hypertrophy in vivo
  • to evaluate the pharmacological response of embryonic stem cell (ESC)-derived cardiomyocytes
  • to pharmacologically rescue GATA (erythroid transcription factor) binding protein 3 (GATA3) null embryo from early embryonic lethality

    1. The stability of this product in solution has not been investigated, but is believed to be quite stable. The Certified Reference Material, product P-078, is a 1 mg/mL solution in methanol that is assigned a shelf life of approximately 5 years when stored frozen at ?20°C. Please see the link below to review a publication that reports aqueous solutions are stable for at least 66 days at room temperature.
