General description

Application
Lysostaphin aus Staphylococcus simulans wurde in einer Studie zur Beurteilung des molekularen Klonens, der Sequenzierung und der Expression von lytM, einem einzigartigen autolytischen Gen von Staphylococcus aureus, verwendet. [1] Es kam außerdem in einer Studie zur Untersuchung der Sequenzanalyse eines für Peptidoglycan-Hydrolase-Aktivität codierenden Gens aus Staphylococcus aureus zum Einsatz. [2]

Die antimikrobielle Aktivität von Lysostaphin, einer von Staphylococcus simulans exprimierten Metallendopeptidase, wird durch die Bindung an den C′-Terminus des membranassoziierten Trap-Proteins von Staphylococcus aureus verstärkt.
Lysostaphin besitzt lytische Aktivität gegenüber Staphylococcus aureus. Diese wird genutzt, um Infektionen mit antibiotikaresistenten Staphylokokken zu behandeln. Es hat die Eigenschaften von Enzymen wie Glycylglycin-Endopeptidase, Endo-β-N-Acetyl-Glucosamidase und N-Acetylmuramyl-L-Alanin-Amidase. Darüber hinaus dient Lysostaphin als Konservierungsmittel in der Lebensmittelindustrie und wird in klinischen Labors zum schnellen Screening genutzt.
