5-Jod-2′-desoxyuridin (5-IUdR; IdUrd) ist ein Pyrimidin-Analog (halogeniertes Thymidin), das eine antivirale Aktivität mit dem Vaccinia-Virus (Orthopoxviren) aufweist. IdUrd wird als Radiosensibilisator in Studien über Humankrebs eingesetzt.

Biochem/physiol Actions

5-Iodo-2′-desoxyuridin verhindert die Replikation von Viren-DNA in vitro. Dies wurde bei Herpesviren und Pockenviren beobachtet. Es verfügt möglicherweise über teratogene, tumorfördernde, mutagene und immunsuppressive Eigenschaften. 5-Iodo-2′-desoxyuridin, das für topische Anwendungen eingesetzt wird, ist bei Infektionen des Epithels wirksam.
