5β-Cholestan-3α-ol wurde als interner Standard für die Analyse von Sterolen in Plasma mittels GC[1] und HPLC verwendet.

Biochem/physiol Actions

5β-Cholestan-3α-ol ist ein Sterol, das endogen aus Cholesterin gebildet wird und aus dem Stuhl von Mensch und Ratte isoliert wurde. Es wird vom Cholesterin abgeleitet und entsteht durch die Aktivität von Darmmikroorganismen.[2]

Preparation Note

5β-Cholestan-3α-ol bildet bei einer Konzentration von 50 mg/mL in Chloroform eine klare, farblose bis leicht gelbliche Lösung.
