General description
Cerulenin ist ein Inhibitor der De-novo-Phospholipid-Synthese und löst in verschiedenen Wildtyp-p53- und mutierten p53-Tumorzelllinien die Apoptose aus. Dieses antimykotische Antibiotikum blockiert zudem das kondensierende Enzym, das an der Fettsäuren- und Polyketid-Biosynthese beteiligt ist.
Application
Cerulenin wurde wie folgt verwendet:
- als Fettsäuresynthase-Inhibitor zum Untersuchen seiner Wirkung auf durch Aldosteron eingeleitete erlernte Immunität[1]
- als Blocker von Fettsäuresynthase zum Untersuchen seiner Wirkung auf die Replikation von SARS-CoV-2 (Schweres-akutes-Atemwegssyndrom-Coronavirus Typ 2)[2]
- als Zusatz zu Hefeextrakt–Pepton–Dextrose/Glycerin(YPD/G)-Agarplatten zum Isolieren von Cerulenin-resistenten Hefestämmen[3]
