General description
Recombinant protein fragment of Human XRCC4 with N-terminal His6ABP (ABP = Albumin Binding Protein derived from Streptococcal Protein G) fusion tag. X-ray repair cross-complementing protein 4 (XRCC4) is also known as DNA repair protein XRCC4. It is mapped to human chromosome locus 5q14.2. It mediates joining of DNA double strand breaks during DNA repair.[1]
Application
Suitable as a blocking agent using corresponding antibodies.
Biochem/physiol Actions
X-ray repair cross-complementing protein 4 (XRCC4) interacts with XRCC4-like factor (XLF) and DNA ligase IV in mediating nonhomologous end joining (NHEJ) cascade in DNA repair. A mutation in the XRCC4 is associated with adult-onset progressive encephalocardiomyopathy and ataxia. Patients with polymorphisms in XRCC4 gene are susceptible to schizophrenia.[1] Single nucleotide polymorphisms in XRCC4 associates with high risk for cancer development. Mutations in XRCC4 leads to growth failure resulting in short stature accompanied by facial dysmorphism.(10)
