Allgemeine Beschreibung

Natrium-(Meta-)Periodat wird häufig als Oxidationsmittel bei der organischen Synthese für die Oxidationen verschiedener organischer Substrate verwendet. Es kann auch als Cooxidans mit anderen oxidierenden Reagenzien wie Osmiumtetroxid und Kaliumpermanganat eingesetzt werden. Die Oxidation von Natriumperiodat findet in wässrigem Medium statt, aber für in Wasser unlösliche organische Substrate wird ein organisches Co-Lösungsmittel verwendet.

Anwendung

Natrium-(Meta-)Periodat kann als Oxidationsmittel für folgende Oxidationen verwendet werden:      
  • 1,2-Diole zu Aldehyden oder Ketonen mittels oxidativer Spaltung.       Sulfide zu Sulfoxiden in Gegenwart von Phasentransferkatalysatoren.      
  • Diaryl-, Dialkyl- und Aryl-Alkyl-Selenide zu den entsprechenden Selenoxiden.      
  • Phenole und ihre Derivate zu den entsprechenden Chinonen.
  • Acylphosphorane zu α,β-Dicarbonyl-Verbindungen.

Es kann auch für folgende Anwendungen eingesetzt werden:      
  • Selektive Alken-Epoxidierung und Alkan-Hydroxylierung,·
  • Oxidation von Kohlenhydraten.      
  • Iodierung von aromatischen Verbindungen.

Reagenz für die Oxydation von Kohlenhydraten vor der Markierung mit Biotinhydrazid.

    1. If this product has an expiration or retest date, it will be shown on the Certificate of Analysis (COA, CofA). If there is no retest or expiration date listed on the product's COA, we do not have suitable stability data to determine a shelf life. For these products, the only date on the COA will be the release date; a retest, expiration, or use-by-date will not be displayed.
      For all products, we recommend handling per defined conditions as printed in our product literature and website product descriptions. We recommend that products should be routinely inspected by customers to ensure they perform as expected.

    1. We have tested the solubility of this compound in water at 100mg/mL; heat may be required to get it to dissolve at that concentration. Per the chemicals encyclopedia published by the Royal Society of Chemistry, it is also expected to be soluble in sulfuric, nitric and acetic acids.
