Biochem/physiol Actions

Antibiotikum, das in der Niere und Blase konzentriert ist; verringert die Nephrotoxizität und Ototoxizität von platinhaltigen Antitumormitteln. Fosfomycin ist ein Phosphoenolpyruvatanalogon, das UDP-GlcNAc-Enolpyruvyltransferase (MurA), ein Enzym, das an der Biosynthese der Bakterienzellwand beteiligt ist, irreversibel hemmt. Folglich wird die Produktion von N-Acetylmuraminsäure, einem essenziellen Bestandteil der Peptidoglykanzellwand, gehemmt.
