Application

Nanodiamonds (NDs) containing NV color centers exhibit fluorescence in red/near infra-red (NIR) region. The fluorescence in NDs originates from nitrogen vacancies and, unlike quantum dots and organic dyes, NDs do not photobleach. Fluorescent NDs find applications in background-free imaging, flow cytometry, super-resolution imaging etc. Our PEG coated aminated fluorescent nanodiamonds are well suited for conjugation with activated biomolecules where steric hindrance is of concern.

Questions

  1. planning use as reference beads for microscopy - how are the amine groups are attached to the Nanodiamonds - on the surface with a short (how long?) linker or on the tips PEG chains. - will I be able to use my NHS-biotin to functionalze the amine groups

    1 answer
    1. This product consists of PEG-3000-coated, amine-functionalized fluorescent nanodiamonds with amine groups presented on the PEG layer, not directly on the nanodiamond surface via a short linker. The PEG spacer improves accessibility and reduces steric hindrance. According to technical documentation, these surface amine groups are suitable for direct functionalization using NHS-activated biotin reagents, supporting their use in microscopy reference and biotin–streptavidin–based applications.
