General description

TBE (Tris/Acetate/EDTA) Buffer is commonly used in nucleic acid electrophoresis. This solution has a lower buffering capacity than TBE buffer, but double stranded DNA runs faster with TAE buffer. This 50x concentrate can be easily diluted with molecular biology grade water to 1x before use.

Application

Tris Acetate-EDTA buffer concentrate is suitable for use as running buffer for nucleic acid electrophoresis, which may be part of Northern and Southern blot hybridization procedures. It is especially useful for double stranded DNA separations.

Components

The TAE 50x liquid concentrate contains 2M TRIS acetate and 0.05M EDTA in water.
