Después de las reacciones de enlace y "fijación de grupos residuales" ("endcapping"), la fase ABZ+ Plus protege de forma efectiva los grupos silanol que no han reaccionado con la sílice, impidiendo que interaccionen con la mayor parte de los analitos, y proporciona picos simétricos independientemente de la funcionalidad del analito. Esta fase también le permite usar tampones de menor fuerza iónica sin necesidad de añadir un modificador de amina.
