General description

Monoclonal anti-Rat Light Chain (1a+1b) (mouse IgG1 isotype) is derived from the RT-39 hybridoma produced by the fusion of mouse myeloma cells and splenocytes from BALB/c mice immunized with purified rat IgG. An immunoglobulin (Ig) has two heavy chain and two light chain connected by disulfide bond. It is a glycoprotein. IgG is a major class of immunoglobulin. Rat has five immunoglobulin classes- IgM, IgG, IgA, IgD and IgGE. IgG has four subclasses- IgG1, IgG2a, IgG2b and IgG2c. Rat immunoglobulins have either κ or λ light chains. Greater than 90% of normal rat immunoglobulins and myelomas contain light chains.

Specificity

The antibody reacts with an epitope on the rat κ light chain, which is shared by both the 1a and 1b allotypes in various rat immunoglobulin classes and subclasses. No cross-reactivity is observed with rat λ light chains or with IgG from human, mouse, bovine, rabbit, goat, sheep, horse, dog, chicken, pig or cat. The product shows weak cross-reaction with guinea pig IgG.

Purified rat IgG

Application

Monoclonal Anti-Rat κ Light Chains (1a + 1b) antibody has been used in capture enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), immunoblotting, dot blot and immunocytochemistry.
Monoclonal Anti-Rat Kappa Light Chains (1a + 1b) antibody produced in mouse has been used in:
  • enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA)
  • immunoblotting
  • dot blot
  • immunocytochemistry

Biochem/physiol Actions

Immunoglobulin G (IgG) mainly helps in immune defense. It participates in hypersensitivity type II and type III reactions. It helps in opsonization, complement fixation and antibody dependent cell mediated cytotoxicity.
