General description
Protein A is an immunoglobulin (Ig)-binding protein expressed in Staphylococcus aureus. It is used to purify large amounts of IgG[1] and binds to the fraction of crystallization (Fc) part of the antibody at the CH2–CH3 interface.[2] Protein A-agarose might be suitable for low-pressure antibody isolation.[1] Protein A-agarose is used for affinity chromatography, antibody purification, and characterization, and protein A, G, and L-resins.
