The cell line A375-C5 is unresponsive to the anti-proliferative effect of IL-1. It has been derived from the parental line A373 (Sigma catalogue no. 88113005) which was subjected to cloning by limiting dilution. This method resulted in the establishment of A375-C5 and an IL-1 sensitive clone, A375-C6 (Sigma catalogue no. 97011321). The unresponsiveness of A375-C5 is probably due to an IL-1 receptor deficiency. The cells have been eradicated from mycoplasma at ECACC.
