Gene Information

human ... NLRC4(58484)

General description

NLR family CARD domain-containing protein 4 is a protein encoded by NLRC4 gene in humans. NLRC4 is also known as CLAN, IPAF, CLAN1, CLANA, CLANB, CLANC, CLAND, CARD12 and CLR2. It is a member of the Ced4/ Apaf-1 family.

Immunogen

peptide corresponding to the N-terminus of the human CLAN protein, both A and B isoforms.

Application

Anti-CLAN Protein (CARD12) antibody produced in rabbit is suitable for western blotting at a dilution of 1:500-1:1,000 using human lung lysates.

Biochem/physiol Actions

CLAN (CARD12) induces apoptosis and plays a critical role in NF-κB signaling pathways. CARD12 plays an important role during activation of caspase-1 and is dependent on the nucleotide-binding site. It prevents motor-neuron apoptosis induced by a variety of signals.

Physical form

Solution of 1 mg/mL in phosphate buffered saline containing 0.02% sodium azide.

The CED4/Apaf-1 family of proteins functions as critical regulators of apoptosis and NF-kappaB signaling pathways. A novel human member of this family, called CARD12, was identified that induces apoptosis when expressed in cells. CARD12 is most similar in structure to

CARD12 (Ipaf/Clan) is an important regulator of caspase-1 activation. It belongs to the family of the nucleotide-binding site and leucine-rich repeat (NBS-LRR) proteins. The NBS domain of the NBS-LRR proteins contains putative ATP/GTPase-specific P-loop and Mg2+-binding site motifs. However, the
