Syringaldazine has been used as a substrate to measure the enzymatic activity of recombinant laccase.[1][2]

Syringaldazine (4-Hydroxy-3, 5-dimethoxybenzaldehyde azine) is a nonautooxidizable laccase-specific compound. It acts as a substrate for laccase and peroxidase in the presence of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2).[3] Syringaldazine also acts as an electron donor in the prostaglandin H synthase (PGHS) reaction.[4]
