Application

Methane is a colourless, odourless, and flammable gas that is lighter than air. Methane is used as a fuel for power generation in gas turbines and steam boilers; household cooking and heating, and for vehicles (compressed natural gas, CNG). It is also a feedstock of choice for production of hydrogen, carbon monoxide, methanol, acetic acid, and myriad organic compounds. Gas is easy to handle in a small, light pressure can, while the disposable container allows for aluminium recycling when finished.

  1. I want to buy 1L CH4 (SKU 769126) and 1L N2O (SKU 768960) to do experiment, so I also need 'mass flow controller' and 'reduction valves' that suitable to these gas cylinders. Do you have suitable 'mass flow controller' and 'reduction valves' for selling?

    1. Product Nos. 769126 (Methane) and 768960 (Nitrous oxide) are manufactured with proprietary Messer® CANGas canisters. The included shut-off valves in these canisters use a 7/16” 28 UNEF threaded connection.

      A compatible pressure-reducing regulator manufactured by Messer® is available under Product No. Z742374. This pressure regulator has an outlet with an NPT 1/8" female thread, a built-in gauge, and a built-in downstream dosing (metering) valve to control the flow rate. This regulator is calibrated for the 12 bar pressure of the CANGas canister, and the reduced pressure is 0.6 bar (fixed factory setting). A plastic hose barbed spout adapter is available under Product No. Z742379 for alternative outlet connections.

      A mass flow controller unfortunately is not available in our portfolio, but any mass flow controller functional at a pressure of 0.6 bar and capable of making connections with 1/8" NPT female or barbed spout outlets would be compatible.

  2. Hi, I bought the 1L methane gas to connect to CI port of our new GC MS, but I do struggle to find the right regulator which can control the pressure/flow of the gas from the Can and has the outlet of 1/8''. Could you please advice
