General description
Isoprocarb is one of the most important carbamate insecticides that is used against a variety of sucking and chewing insects for plants in tropical and subtropical regions, notably rice and cotton leafhopper. It functions as an acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitor and acts by contact and stomach poisoning.
Isoprocarb is not approved for use in European Union (EU) according to Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009 (repealing Directive 91/414/EEC). However, a default MRL of 0.01 mg/kg is set according to Art 18(1)(b) Reg 396 / 2005.
Application
- To examine the toxicity of isoprocarb on Eisenia fetida, at lethal and sublethal concentrations, and elucidate its toxic modes of action as well as biochemical and detoxification mechanisms
- Study the binding interaction of isoprocarb and sodium 2-isopropylphenate with bovine serum albumin (BSA) by spectrofluorimetry under simulated physiological conditions
- To develop an analytical method for the detection and quantitation of 3-hydroxycarbofuran, 3-ketocarbofuran, carbofuran, carbosulfan, and isoprocarb using micellar electrokinetic chromatography coupled with a UV-Vis detector
- To develop an electrochemical multianalyte screening method for the detection of carbaryl, carbofuran, isoprocarb, and fenobucarb applied to grains samples (durum wheat, soft wheat, and maize)
- To investigate the effect of salt additives on cloud point extraction (CPE) of isoprocarb and promecarb followed by their residue analysis in fruit juices, vegetable juices, and local wines using HPLC
