Biochem/physiol Actions

S2C3, an analog of dequalinium, is an HIV-1 fusion inhibitor that specifically binds to the gp41 membrane proximal external region (MPER) of the HIV-1 envelope spike and blocks CD4-induced conformational changes. S2C3 effectively block HIV-1 infection. S2C3 (CYDE-21) is a cationic amphiphilic bolaamphiphile nano-sized vesicles or vesicle-like aggregates suitable to carry antisense oligonucleotides (ASO) into bacterium such as C. difficile.
