Gene Information

General description

Anti-THRB Antibody detects endogenous levels of total THRB protein.
Thyroid hormone receptor β; (THRβ) is encoded by the gene mapped to human chromosome 3p. THRβ exist in two isoforms, THRβ1 widely expressed in brain, liver and kidney and THRβ2 expressed specifically in hypothalamus and pituitary. The encoded protein contains a C- terminal ligand-binding and dimerization domain, a DNA-binding domain and a transactivation domain.

Immunogen

The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human THRB.

Immunogen Range: 391-440

Biochem/physiol Actions

Thyroid hormone receptor β (THRβ) mediates the biological functions of thyroid hormones (TH). THRβ is down-regulated in several human malignancies including papillary thyroid carcinomas (PTCs). Loss of heterozygosity in THRβ and its proximal microsatellite markers might play a crucial role in tumorigenesis and development in invasive breast cancer. Deletion of the gene coding for THRβ leads to generalized thyroid hormone resistance (GTHR). THRβ plays a vital role in the regulation of specific mRNA and miRNA in T3-induced cardiac hypertrophy and alteration of heart functions in mice.
