Biochem/physiol Actions

This enzyme phosphorylates and inactivates protein phosphatase 2A. The funtion appears to be related to the catalytic domain of p21-activated p65(PAK) protein kinase which is produced in apoptotic cells. AK is also involved in cytoskeleton organization and other signal transduction processes.

Unit Definition

Macrophages are involved in hepatocyte steatosis and necroinflammation and play an important role in the pathogenesis of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Impaired autophagy function (decreased autophagy or blocked autophagic flow) leads to cell damage and death and promotes NAFLD

The epoxyeicosatrienoic acid (EET) exerts beneficial effects on insulin resistance and/or hypertension. EETs could be readily converted to less biological active diols by soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH). However, whether sEH inhibition can ameliorate the comorbidities of insulin resistance and hypertension
