General description
Potassium sodium tartrate tetrahydrate, commonly called as Rochelle salt, is a ferroelectric crystal with high piezoelectric effect. It is deliquescent and water soluble with highest electromechanical coupling coefficient. It is a component of DNS (3,5-dinitrosalicylic acid) reagent, a colorimetric reagent and Fehling′s solution B which are used in the determination of reducing sugar. NMR spectra and the spin-lattice relaxation times has been reported.
Application
Potassium sodium tartrate tetrahydrate may be used in the following processes:
- Polyphenol assay.
- Synthesis of iron nanoparticles, whcih are used in the synthesis of amorphous carbon nanofibers.
- As a component in the reservoir solution used to induce crystallization of proteins.
- As a component of aqueous plating solution for electroless silver deposition on polycarbonate substrates.
