A stock solution was prepared at 5 mM in DMSO as a 5000X concentrated solution from cat# T5648 before adding it to the cell culture medium. The cells are thawed and expanded in the MCF-7/TAMR-1 Expansion Media, which includes DMEM/F12 medium without phenol red (Sigma Cat. No. D6434), 1% FBS (EMD Millipore Cat. No. ES-009-B), 2.5 mM L-Glutamine (EMD Millipore Cat. No. TMS-002-C), 6 ng/mL insulin (Sigma Cat. No. I-9278), and 1 uM tamoxifen (Sigma Cat. No. T5648).

General description
MCF-7/TAMR-1 is a tamoxifen-resistant cell line derived from the MCF-7/SO.5 cell line that has been adapted to grow at low serum concentration under the long-term treatment with 1 M with tamoxifen. MCF-7/TAMR-1 cells should be maintained in 1 M tamoxifen and may be compared with the parental MCF-7/S0.5 cells, which are sensitive to tamoxifen.
