General description

Transcriptional activator Myb (UniProt: P10242; also known as Myb, Proto-oncogene c-Myb) is encoded by the MYB gene (Gene ID: 4602) in human. Myb is a transcriptional activator; DNA-binding protein that specifically recognize the sequence 5′-YAAC[GT]G-3′ and plays an important role in the control of proliferation and differentiation of hematopoietic progenitor cells. It is negatively regulated by microRNA-155. It consists of 3 domains; an N-terminal DNA-binding domain, a centrally located transcriptional activation domain, and a C-terminal domain involved in transcriptional repression. MYB gene is aberrantly expressed or rearranged or undergo translocation in leukemias and lymphomas, and is considered to be an oncogene. Myb protein is also reported to bind to HTLV-I long terminal repeat (LTR) sequences at four distinct regions in a sequence specific manner and activates LTR-mediated transcription. (Ref.: Dasgupta, P., et al. (1992). J. Virol. 66(1): 270-276).

Specificity

Clone 8F12.1 specifically detects human Myb protein. It targets an epitope within 154 amino acids in the C-terminal region.

Immunogen

GST/His-taged recombinant protein fragment corresponding to 154 amino acids from the C-terminal region of human Transcriptional activator Myb.

Application

Anti-Myb, clone 8F12.1 Antibody, Cat. No. MABE659, is a highly specific mouse monoclonal antibody that targets Myb and has been tested in Western Blotting.
